| Posted about 5 years ago I don't know of any ADN school online that is for students who are not bridging from LPN, and would not go to one unless it is accepted by the Board of Nursing in your state. It should still have substantial (ie weekly) clinic time: at least 1 clinic day per week the first year, and 2 clinic days the second, progressing you from 1 patient to at least 3 by graduation. If such an online ADN program only offered 1 clinic day per course, then it is a bad program and should be avoided (LPN or paramedic bridge programs excepted, but do your research first) The University of Phoenix does not have an online ADN program. They DO have an online BSN bridge program (ie, you must be an RN first), and online MSN and PhD in Nursing programs. I have my MSN from UoP. I was not happy with the quality of the education I got there, and would not recommend it to others. The program LoveNursing is talking about is a bridge program for people with previous health care training. I don't like the looks of it. This College Network does not actually offer any ADN program itself. It offers "Learning Modules" to prepare you to test (CLEP) out of pre-requisites for nursing courses. You then enroll in the online program of their "partner institutions" They claim Excelsior College is their partner for nursing, however, Excelsior College's website specifically says it is not affiliated with any test preparation company (which is what this College Network is). Excelsior DOES have a set of criteria for these companies it asks them to follow for the test companies programs, and warns potential students the test prep company should specifically say it follows those guidelines. The College Network is not itself NLNAC accredited. Excelsior College IS. I would not take any classes from this College Network. Excelsior College used to be known as Regents College and has a good reputation. However its A.S. (not ADN, but the same thing essentially) programs are for LPNs/LVNs, paramedics and some other health care professionals. Now, some community college ADN programs ARE putting part or all of their lecture content online. My school, Guilford Technical Community College in North Carolina is in the process of doing this. However, you still must come to campus for lab, and go to the hospital for clinic 1-2 days per week depending on the level of the course. However, there is no strictly online ADN program for new students to nursing that is completely online. Sorry, Paula, but you will have to apply to your local community college's ADN program if you want an ADN (or your local college or univeristy BSN program) if you want a career in nursing. Unless, of course, you are a paramedic or LPN. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Tennessee has a new "hybrid" ADN program. You choose a home school and do your clinicals with them, but your classes are online video conferences from what i understand. You can try www.rodp.org for more info! :) |
