| Posted over 5 years ago Check with the place where you will take the TEAS. They should be able to provide you with a study guide. Or you can buy one from ATI Testing, the company that created the TEAS. It costs $35. There is also a 100 question online practice test that costs $27 (you can get both for $55). I'm not endorsing the study guide or practice test--just letting you know its there. Your local CC may have a guide of its own that is free--call and ask. The ATI site is at www.atitesting.com However, I would NOT take the TEAS if you are still taking developmental courses at your CC. Finish the developmental ed courses, then take the TEAS. If your program requires a certain score to get in, you want to do as well as possible. Take your college level English and Math first as well. You might consider taking a majority of your pre-reqs first to strengthen your skills. It shouldn't matter when you take the TEAS itself--you just have to have taken it before you apply, and the results are usually good for several years and you can transfer them to other schools that use the TEAS for free. The CC where I teach uses the TEAS. We just upped the percentile score (NOT percentage) from 60% to 75% (the percentile total of the four exams) before we rank applicants based on their ranking points. Other schools may be using similar benchmarks, so you want to be as prepared as possible to do as well as possible. But that just requires a review of the study subjects: reading comprehension, writing, general math, and general science. That's why I would take as many pre-reqs as possible first: they will strengthen those skills so you should score well without needing to spend a lot of money on expensive products and you need those courses anyway. Calculators are not allowed, btw. |
