Posted almost 6 years ago What does it take to become a telemetry nurse? I know that there are several certifications for cardiac care nurses, but are there any that are specific to telemetry nurses? |

| Posted almost 6 years ago There is a cert from AACN called the PCCN, or Progressive Care Certified Nurse. This covers intermediate care, direct observation, step-down, telemetry, transitional care units and emergency departments. See the website http://www.certcorp.org/ |

| Posted almost 6 years ago The PCCN examination is a 2 1/2-hour test consisting of 125 multiple-choice items. Each PCCN examination, focused on the care of the adult acutely ill patient, is based on a the results of a comprehensive study of acute/critical care nursing practice completed in 2003. AACN Certification Corporation used the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care, a model that matches patient needs with nurse competencies, as the framework to develop this certification program. The PCCN credential has been approved for those nurses who have successfully completed the certification program. PCCN certification denotes to the public those practitioners who possess a distinct body of knowledge called acute care nursing. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Or, more to the point, one could get into a Basic Dysrhythmia Recognition course for starters. 12-lead interpretation classes are a big help as well. ACLS is a great body of knowledge. |
