| Posted about 5 years ago All forms of OB/GYN nursing has a higher risk level than many other forms. Obstetricians are among the most frequently sued physicians in the country, often over issues that medical and nursing staff had no control over. I've worked on a post partum unit, and in a nursery, and I enjoyed it. I've never worked L&D, though I would have liked to. I teach OB nursing in a CC, and have a ball with it every time. The pay for OB nurses is the same for any other nurse. OB can be hard to get into because once nurses get the job, they tend to stay put until retirement. Turnover in OB units has traditionally been very low. However, with the nursing shortage, more opportunities are opening up and it's easier to get a job in that field now. BTW, all caps on the Internet is considered shouting. |
