I start nursing at this fall, at first I have to take intermediate algebra and Introduction to chemistry but I’m really nervous to actually start the nursing courses.
I have always wanted to do this, but I have heard so much about how hard the program is. Right now I’m in BOCES Health Careers class, this is my second year and we concentrate a lot on Anatomy and Physiology this year. I’ve been doing pretty good, but at the same time I find it really hard, especially when we did the skeletal & muscular systems, remembering every little detail was crazy.
I’m definately going to go through this no matter how hard, but I was hoping someone can just give me some motivational information, and good tips, on anything; studying, good books to use anything.
I read on a different topic that a good thing to help you study during nursing is the NCLEX books & cd to go through each system and the questions as you’re doing it in class, is there are certain NCLEX book anyone has found better then another?
Thanks a lot!:)

Hi, there ndufresne226! If you go to the group "Not a nurse yet" and the discussion board is called "Hello, I am preparing for nursing school" If you go into my profile you can find the group there. I asked for the same advice you are asking and it was so helpful. Theala (a nursing instructor) recommended to me an NCLEX study book by Saunders. Check it ou!! Hope this helps!

ndufresne226! I totally understand the muscle and skelatel systems are probably two of the hardest too remember! In my program they have recommended we use ATI (www.atitesting.com). Its a NCLEX prep with books and DVD's and online practice tests..

And I understand how nervous you are... The biggest tip I would have for you is to GET ORGANIZED!!! it helps so much! Make to do lists and keep your orgamizer organized!

Hey! I really can't give you any information except on Anatomy and Physiology class becuase I myself am starting nursing classes next semester! I am excited about finally starting them, and I'm guessing nurrsing classes will be just as hard or harder than A and P! Right now we are actually working on the skeletal system, and we just finished the skelton test ( I got an 89! I was happy!) I find that just going over the information generally and then going over the stuff I didn'nt get going over it generally helps! Good luck on your nursing degree! I hope this answered your question
