Posted about 5 years ago Hi.I am considering nursing, but first i want to begin that by being a CNA so i can get a feel of what it is to be a nurse, how is it like to work with sick people etc.I live in Florida, and as far as I know,in Florida it's not required to take a course, you can learn by yourself an then challenge the license test.I think I can do that because i learn very fast, but I'm not sure if it is really possible to just take the test.I want to know i there is anybody there who lives in Florida,is a CNA and obtained the CNA license in this way.If not,at least provide me with some CNA programs in Florida,Palm Beach area, but preferably online courses.I want to start ASAP.Thanks. |

| Posted about 5 years ago I think becoming a CNA can be a great asset to you if you are interested in nursing. However, I would urge caution in taking a CNA course online. Many online programs are fly by night operations that take your money but don't teach you anything really useful in the work setting--in large part because of the lack of any lab or clinical training. I would suggest you do three things: 1) check with the Florida Board of Nursing to see if they maintain a list of approved programs for certification. 2) check with local employers to see what kind of training they want you to have before you apply. The two large hospital organizations where I live refuse to hire CNAs trained online. 3) Check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints against the program. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Hi there! Personally, I would want to take something like that at an actual community college because you really need hands on experience that only clinicals can offer you! |

| Posted about 5 years ago I found a class at a community college, but it lasts 3 months, and it costs a little too much for my initial budget, and I want to start sooner than 3 months.Besides,I think I can learn by working.I don't think that the skills for becoming a CNA require so much training. |
