Unitek College for Nursing sucks! They do not have the students' education in their best interest. At least that was not the impression I got. All they want is your money. The Nursing Advisor which my friend and I made an appointment with interrupted us to answer 2 phone calls during our orientation; very unprofessional. I wasn't able to proceed with the application or even take a placement test until I was approved by the bank. Even when I came in to sign the application, she didn't give me time to read what I was signing. Said she'd make me a copy so I can read it later. Wtf???

Yes, they are accredited but are brand new to the RN program. In the website, it's an ADN or LVN to RN program but you have to enroll in the LVN program first which costs $33k. The RN program is an additional $34k. They don't have financial aid so you have to apply for SLM or some other bank and interest accumulates on the day the check is cut. Rates are ridiculous and you'll be paying until you retire. Okay, that's an exaggeration; they only have a 20 year plan.

Anyway, I finally followed my instincts after contemplating for weeks and decided to cancel my application. I wrote a cancellation letter and mailed it certified. The Nursing Advisor then emails me stating that I had to come in and cancel in person w/ the Admissions Director (who by the way called me half an hour later). I was close to saying f___ off but instead politely told her I already cancelled in writing as "required" by the application agreement I signed and told her never to contact me again.

So, now I'm writing to warn you about this school: Unitek College located in Fremont, Santa Clara, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Also, don't be misled by these "specialty schools" that claim to be equivalent to junior/state/uc colleges.

Rule of thumb: "If it's too good to be true, it is"!!! Also, do the research. I wasn't able to find much information on them but that's why I'm releasing this blog to hopefully help someone, anyone from wasting their time and money on this school or any of this type. You'll graduate and realized you didn't learn a damn thing!
