Getting my BSN, How Many Hours Did You Study? Is Nursing School Hard? “
Hi! I am a transfer student and will be applying to nursing programs for next fall. I will be visiting some schools this summer and I dont know exactly what types of questions I should ask about the nursing programs.Im doing a BSN program if that makes a difference. Also how many hours did you put in a week to study for nursing classes? Everyone says nursing school is really difficult. Thanks for taking time to read and answer my questions.”
Kate, thanks for your question! Selecting a nursing school is very important. Here are somethings I think you should ask them when you are selecting your school. Here is a list: what are the student ratios per class, course requirements, & NCLEX pass rate for students. Are progression tests required in order to progress to the next semester, student services that are available, classroom pass/fail rates, Tuition costs, where most student go to find a job after graduation….etc.
When I first started nursing school to be a Registered Nurse RN I studied a lot but as I got closer to my senior year the classes got easier and required less studying. I would say I put in about 8-12 hours of studying a week. Yes, nursing school is hard but it is not impossibly hard and it is so worth it. I think any college degree you pick will be hard but nursing will pay off the most. Don’t let that scare you because trust me if I passed and got through it I know you can. Plus I didn’t go to the easiest nursing school!
Good Luck Kate!
