Has anyone else found it hard especially if you are not returning to where you were sent from to get motivated about being a nurse or networking with people? My buddies from deployment and the military have nothing to do with nursing and my old nursing student buddies have moved on (I think). I feel strange calling them up after all this time. Am I alone with this problem?

I found it very difficult to  get back into the mainstream and I still feel that way after 2 years.  I may be in a little different category because I am now retired, but it feels like I march to the beat of a different drummer.  There is no discipline in the so-called "real world".  Nurses I have had the occasion to deal with are not in my opinion kind people.  They are of the attitude of "what's in it for me".  These are the people who should have seen some of the things that soldiers see.  I just go to work and do my job, no real buddies here at all.  So you are not alone, there are more of us out here.
