Hello fellow nursing students, CNA's and current nurses! My name is Kristina and I live in Louisville, KY. I start an accelerated nursing program in May. I am really scared - they keep talking about how intense it is, and I'm wondering if I can get thru it! ACK!!! I think they literally put the fear of God in you so that you are not surprised of what is to come... I'll find out soon enough... BUT my degree will be a BSN in a year so I'm really excited about that. I want to work on the floor for awhile then go back to school to get my practioner's license... Not sure what I want to practice, but I'm sure that'll come with time.

My mother died in 2000 from diabetes / dialysis complications. She was a caregiver and would have been a wonderful nurse. I am doing this for myself as I wish I would have had the training then to take better care of her. She had some wonderful nurses - one not so great. I want to be one of the wonderful ones for people. ...hold people's hands in time of sorrow, hug those that need it and just to be there when people need someone to be there for them... That's why I'm getting into this profession...

Now if I can only get through school.... I have read many books on nursing and I embrace ANY advice I can get from those with experience!!!
Take care all and I am VERY glad I found this site!!
Kristina :)

What type of program gives you a BSN in a year? That would be nice. Best of luck.

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.

Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY offers it. It's for students who already have a bachelor's degree. They say it's so intense that you can't work AT ALL during the program. It's 3 semesters long...they have a virtual 100% first time NCLEX pass rate too!
