Posted almost 6 years ago I live in Virginia and I am a CNA since 1989. I did not reinstate my license but now have sent in the application to do so. I know I have to take the paper test and skills test again, but I would also like to move on to my RN. Does anyone know where to go from here? I would like to do the majority of this online as I work during the day and have small children. Where do I start? Grants (there are so many, they are crossing my eyes, scholars, school??? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Hi jtancsmom and thanks for the posting. We recently featured a news article on nursing online programs. Perhaps it can be of some help. This article may also be helpful. |

| Posted over 5 years ago Hi jtancsmom, Your comment caught my attention because that is "so me". I myself started out as a HHA so many years ago. At that time I had an infant that was 3 months-old and no car. I was so determine to make a better life for my son I went an enrolled in small private school that offered financial aid. I completed my CNA and like yourself, I wanted more. I then enrolled in a vocational school that granted me 3 month credit toward my LPN because I started out with my CNA certificate and I've completed my LPN. I am currently an LPN for the past 5 yrs yet there is a thirst for more. Okay, this is where the story gets a little exciting, in enters a set of twins (that are now 3yrs-old)! I said all that to say this, It can be done! I am currently working on becoming an RN (remember that thirst; and again with credit towards my RN ). This time it's online or virtual college as we call it here in FL. This way I can be mommee! mommeeee! and still be Denise ( you know what I mean). Where there is a will; a way will open up to you! GOOD LUCK! PS: Check out the vocational/technical schools first, they're usually shorter than the colleges and cost a whole lot less. |
