Hi ! Im Cheri and am not only new to this site ,which I think is a great site by the way, but also new to San Antonio Tx. and to the idea of nursing as a second career and life change. I am 39 with a 9 year old and I have been a stay at home wife & mother for the last 11 years! So this really is a change for me. Im not sure where to begin other than it sounds like if I want to get an RN then I need to start off with getting the pre reqs out of the way and then into an LVN program and then RN? I am not even sure about which schools to look into. Hopeing all this can be paid for with grants! Any advice or suggestions would be welcome! I really am looking foreward to becoming a nurse and am very excited to get started even at age 39! Thanks in advance, Cheri

Cheri, I started school when I was 44 years old. I've found that community colleges are a lot less expensive and I like the smaller classroom size. I'm able to get a lot of one-on-one with my instructors. You need to figure out where you want to go to school so you know pre-reqs to do. Be sure you do your FAFSA so you can see what grants you qualify for. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
