Much of this depends on where you are going to settle in the US. They hire you for a certain shift, but once you're working if an opening comes up you can apply to move to a different shift. You can also apply when an opening comes up to go to a specialty or another floor etc. A 90 day orientation period, of which they can terminate your employment for any reason, without fear of repercussions from a union if there is one.
