Posted about 5 years ago I have 2 fondest memories that stand out above the rest (there were many:)...the first was a cancer patient that I cared for...she was distressed at the thought of having a nursing student care for her, because she had a previous negative experience with a student.....I was very careful to explain everything that I was doing and why, and I quickly established a very positive rapport with her.....eventually I got her up for a walk, cleaned up and ready to rest for the night, and the look of content and comfort on her face said it all, but the topper was when she asked if I would be back the following day to take care of her:) My second fondest memory of nursing school was our pinning ceremony....it was very fitting, and a chance for me to spend time with my classmates who had worked so hard, and with our friends and family who had been so supportive......I will never forget it!

Posted about 5 years ago My fondest memory will be on May 10, 2008 at my pinning ceremony. Maybe after the final on May 6, 2008...then it doesn't matter. I'm just so restless time is going so slow. I just want to be done! I will remember this month forever. Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.

Posted about 5 years ago I too, like Oznuttine, have many fond memories of nursing school. Probably my fondest was when I was assigned to a patient at the hospital where I was doing clinicals, who was a resident from the nursing home I was working at as a CNA. He hated having to be in the hospital and the nurses there were saying they were having a hard time getting him out of the bed and to therapy so he could go back to the nursing home because he was so depressed. When I walked in and he saw me, his face lit up. And when I told him I was going to be his nursing student at the hospital for the next two days, I thought he would strangle me he was hugging me so hard. I was able to talk him into getting out of the bed for meals the first day and by the second he was willing to go to therapy. He was able to go back to the nursing home that following week. And of course graduation day. We didn't have a pinning ceremony, but we were allowed to buy a pin and have it pinned on when we received our diploma. My fiance (who is now my husband) who had just come back from Iraq, was in his Army dress uniform and he pinned me. It was awesome!!
