Is it true?

Posted about 5 years ago We are having a problem at the place I work, and I don't know how to decipher all of the states legal mumbo jumbo. Is it a WI State Law that ANY scheduled drugs cannot be written by a licensed nurse (LPN/RN) as a verbal order prescription, co-signed, and faxed to the pharmacy? Is this just a matter of interpretation of the law? I have never had any issues in the past for medications such as Vicodin, Tylenol #3, or Ambien, but now they're saying we have to phone them in. This seems to me to be a more unreliable way of confirming the Rx. With a faxed Rx, you can compare signatures, and you also have the date/time/fax number stamp (from where the fax was sent) confirming it is from the doctor's office. I just want to know if this has recently come into play by a matter of state statute, has ALWAYS been (and we've been ignoring it), or if this is in fact a empolyer policy to appease one problem pharmacy (no other pharmacy has complained about the practice). Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!! |

| Posted about 5 years ago Doesn't this seem goofy to anyone else? I mean, I could call in a Rx for myself from my cell phone while on vacation, and unless caught by the doctor's office, no one would be the wiser! Not that I'd EVER do this mind you, but it seems like a less "safe" way to deal with scheduled drug Rxs, doesn't it? This has all been started by Shopko Pharmacy, and only just recently...I've been doing Rxs for the past six years...just seems weird to me...phone vs. fax. I will check out the states pharmacy board though. Thanks for the advice.
