Posted about 5 years ago Hello everyone! I am currently a pre-nursing student who will hopefully be able to apply to a few southern california RN programs this fall. From what I hear, I won’t be able to have a job while in the program…Is this true? If so, does anyone have any good ideas or suggestions for how to pay for my normal living expenses while at school? I make $40k/year now and I practically have an anxiety attack when I think of not working while in the program. How did all you RNs do it? I need all the advice you are willing to give. THANK YOU! |

| Posted about 5 years ago I will be applying for the nursing program in the fall and according to the counselor she recommends not to work during the nursing program since there are a lot of students that cannot keep up doing both. I will also have an anxiety attack during this time!! I will be obtaining a loan for living expenses during the nursing program. |

| Posted about 5 years ago pdperez77 - I totally understand what you mean...I cannot get accustomed to losing my salary while attending nursing school. I may work part-time and then apply for a loan if I quit my job. My hubby and I have to pay back our student loans as well as pay on our mortgage and car loans... Thanks goodness I have a little time to figure things out while I finish up on my prereqs. I have the sciences left to take, then I apply for the nursing program. Someone from nursinglink told me they worked weekends, double-shift (work 16 hours on Sat & Sun = 32 hrs) while in nursing school. Then I think she said that she put in 8 hours during the weekdays... Hope this might give you some ideas. |
