A few suggestions:
Registered Nurse Response Network (RNRN) see California Nurses Association website.
American Red Cross
Your States Medical Reserve Corp

Thank you for this site RNRN.  It is a very interesting site with great input and connections. I hope to learn more and get more involved with this effort.

The Red Cross is one of the best. There are also many churches that have medica response teams. I have been involved with both. Check out Jewish Healthcare Internatioanl. One of the best. I have been to Peru and to the former Soviet Union. I have also been involved with the aftermath of 911 in NY, Floods and storms in GA and with the Natioanl Nurse Response Team. I have found the NRT to be very disorganized and just not sure of what their purpose is.

If you are looking for pay for response, look for your regional DMAT team (Disaster Medical Assistance Team), branch of Department of Health and Human Services- lengthy and very complicated application process though including fingerprinting and background checks.

hey! I suggest also the RED CROSS maybe because I am patial to this organization or because they are lolking for "volunteers" the app is simple and they provide and pay for the training and let me tell you, there is plenty of disaster relief that they provide!!! one can easilly get started right on line by goggling "red cross" they also put a letter out that you can get and stay up to date. good luck!
