LPN PAY

Posted about 5 years ago Just a quick question about pay. Is there a good place to research "average" pay for an LPN position? I only wonder because I read some places that the average is $18, but to all I talk with it seems more like $14. While this isn't a major difference it can be a lot when you have a family depending on you. What do you guys know about the average? Are there different types of LPN work that pay more than others? |

Posted about 5 years ago I've been studying this myself.I just started my MNA course and was considering LPN however after looking into the pay and other differances such as who is needed more in my area.(Ky.) i think it is a better option to skip lpn and go on to associate RN...Pay here for LPN seems to vary from $14.00-$20.00//RNs seem to go between $25.00-$40.00 depending on experiance and availibility to shifts...

Posted about 5 years ago The pay also depends on where you work such as office, home health, nursing home etc. I work in a rural pediatric office most of our patients have medicare. I don't get as much on the hour but the benefits are awesome. They pay for my uniforms, 80% of my health insurance, they even pay into my sep-ira account. If my son gets sick and I have to bring him in that's ok and and it doesn't matter if the schedule is full. One of the providers will see him. Sometimes it's not about the extra money but about the extra care.

Posted about 5 years ago Well said Wanda...although, with my ever expanding family, pay has now become an issue. I have one year to complete my RN, and no way to literally squeeze it in right now. nulife, you will have to do the research in your area, and determine which is of the most importance to you. I took a job at a clinic making far less in outright wages than I could somewhere else, but I don't work weekends (which gives me quality time with my family), I am fully vested in a retirement fund, and I have a 401k. I have access to insurance, dental care and flex-spending accounts too. I think in the end, you need to choose based on what's most valuable to you. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

Posted about 5 years ago It varies all over. In MT I made $12/hr, CA $30+/hr, WY$24/hr. But in MT it was acuted care, in CA was in an acute rehab and in wy was long term care. When I first became a LPN My first job at a hospital and started at $5.02/hr...I was so rich. Now I'm a poor student, can't wait to get a job. Going from LPN pay to RN pay will be a big $0.25/hr. Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.
