There is an RN that has recently left our health department. She AND her husband are soon going to take their certiciation tests to become massage therapists. They have moved to a much larger town, but according to her, there is a demand for it in their area.

This is actually a new specialty - Holistic Nursing. They have a great association - online site, too. They received ANA specialty status last year. Check out their site to learn more. There are now 13 colleges offering Holistic Nursing degrees.

My classmate and I were just talking about this in class yesterday at break. She is going to start massage therapy school in the fall. I kmow a couple of nurses that already are and I have a friend who wants to open a spa. She is almost finished with nursing school and wants to work as a nurse for a couple of years get all of her certifications and open up her spa. I think it is a great idea.

I went to school (Hong Kong, China) for a Reflexology class and I have a Certificate for that. I can do massage from head to toe (Head, Swedish, Hand and Foot), but I can not practice here (USA) because I am not licensed. When I needed a Reflexologist for myself I can not find one that does the whole body but I found one that does Foot Reflexology only. I think there is a need for Reflexologists here in the US. Our body does not need pain pills every time we feel so. If I have a headache or muscle pain I would ask my husband to press on some pressure points and I'm relieved.
