I love working in peoples homes, I love the one on one care, not having to rush and actually being able to give quality care to clients. I have spoken with cna and nurse of all degrees who wish they would have done home health instead of groups! I am checking into schools for lpn but i am starting at the bottom with no college experience so its gonna take awhile but when i do become an lpn, I really think I want to stay in home care. Also in nj its is growing very large because clients don't want to give up there homes, and the fear of nursing homes.
I'd really like to here some thought on working in home care vs group

I left the hospital for home health 18 years ago and have never regretted my decision. With in home care you not only get to know the patient, but also the family. Home care is big and will continue to grow. Many agencies offer custodial care only and there is no end in sight for home care. I'm glad you like home care.

When I worked in LTC, I was so frustrated because staffing was such that I could not give the care I thought my pts deserved. I barely had time to say hello to them. When I worked in a hospital, there were times that I was the only CNA on the floor. Capacity was 25, including the 3 bed ICU. I moved to Unit Clerk and still went out on the floor to answer call lights because we were usually understaffed as far as pt care demanded, but not understaffed according to some mathematical table someone who worked there years ago had made up. Go figure. I have worked homehealth for nearly a year now, and I think I've found my place in life. The $$$ is better than before, but what really matters to me is I can give TIME to my pt and get to know her and her needs. I have the time to respond to her and give her the care she deserves.HerĀ  family is cool, too. I would advise anyone who is not 100% sure of what part of the healthcare field they want to work in to give homehealth a try. It's just like all healthcare in one way (this is my opinion), it will make you laugh, cry and sometimes feel frustrated, but it's definitely worth it. The good thing about the families is the fact they don't want their loved one in a LTC facility.
