What are ya'lls opinions about the clinics popping up in retail stores? This is a new "fad" in our area. It seems easy and more convienent for the patient, but how do you know that the professional that is seeing you is reputable?

I think that it's going to pose a HUGE problem with primary care physicians, and continuity of care...medical records will be spread out all over the place! I am not in favor of this "fast-food" approach to medicine at all!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

To put my two cents in,I have been checking at some of these places in louisville Ky.(home) to me...and i have found that the people i talk to have went to the same schools we have to attend and i always look for Dr's cert's,that are usually posted in office somewhere...but for most part it seems like it has opened up a new invitation for employment, and if nothing else maybe some of the MA'S and LPN'S in these facilities realize that they need to go into RN or further thier education...looks like its a catch 22 some good, some bad.....

These aren't any different in my mind as the urgent care doc in a box which were started back in the middle to later 80's and those who protested the most were hospitals and other physicians. Mostly I think because they were jealous they didn't think of it first and of course money.

So far, these little "clinics" haven't affected our census. Although, some days I wish they would. They are popping up everywhere, but anything that is anything gets transferred to the ED's.

Doc in a box, lord where my mind went. anywho.................we have none here yet (key word yet) but I'm sure it will happen depending on where our MP insurance takes off to next.
I can just see the "take a number and wait" deli counter mentality.

Take a number and wait deli counter mentality.............we already have this in the ER, doctor's offices, clinics, so what's the difference?

sorry dmazment, in Air medical we always get to cut to the head of the line, so I really don't pay that close attention I hope you're not telling me you have a ticket roll and lighted numbers behind the triage desk.

Shan, LMAO, the only thing I cold think when I read your post, (sick as it is) was "fresh meat sliced to order"

Lord I need my 24 off

frankly angeleyes I was quoting you, and I don't see a doc in the box in the sky as of yet. We've yet to establish any colonies on other planets, "we" meaning planet earth people.

the ticket roll and lit numbers was at the old Cook county and Heinz VA med center Angel, and there are 2 "doc in a box"s So of NIMC, they're hidden under the names of emergency treatment centers that also house kids clubs, senior center activities, have coffee bars and rentable conference facilities complete with catering.

And verily, verily I say unto thee that some day it shall come to pass that from the earth there shall come a thundering roar, fire and smoke, and from the darkness, fire and smoke an Angel shall rise. Thou cannot speaketh his name for Hell follows him

I saw the crap at Heinz when you were in there, and the 2 south of NI are cracker box hacker hatchers, inflating biling for non treatment.
At least the trauma units we fly to triage by severity, not order of entry. As for colonies on other planets, some ED's can be classified as "out of this world" LMAO

The ED is typically the "crotch" of the hospital & we're usually treated as such. If you're not a money-maker like the OR or Cardiology you're the bastard child.
