Posted about 5 years ago Hello all. I am in my second quarter of school and taking medical terminology. I just got my book and opened it up and I knew there were tons of terms but I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to learn them in a short amount of time. My class is 10 weeks and we do a chapter a day, we are already on chapter 2 with a quiz monday. I kind of feel like I am getting it but in a way I don't. Does anyone know any tips for learning medical terminology and actually retaining the information. Crystal |

| Posted about 5 years ago I'm currently taking an online medical terminology class to get ready for nursing school. I find flash cards the most helpful. Try learning the terms by playing games or teaching someone else what you are learning. Check out my blog: http://myfinanciallessons.blogspot.com/ |

| Posted about 5 years ago I liked to play the game "Memory" when I took med. terminology. On one side write the root word, then on another card, on one side write the meaning. Do 10 terms at a time (you'll have 20 cards in all). Not only does your mind get in the habit of having to know the definition, but your memory of recall will also help you on the test. I did the same with all of the suffixes (i.e. ectomy, ostomy, plasty, scopy) and the prefixes (pre-,post-,uni-,bi-,etc.), although the prefixes should be fairly easy to recall. |
