I work at an Urgent Care Center, and I had a real doosy on Friday - "I keep on throwing up, but just a little bit each time". We found out when we were screening her that the gal was pregnant. Gees what a dummy - like 21 or something. Any other stories?

This one is similar...once when I was working at a rural hospital as a unit secretary/aide, I got called down to the ER one night shift to do vitals, etc on a girl whose mom brought her in because of pain in her right side. The girl was about 15 or 16. She was admitted for appendicitis, but in the course of all the labwork, it came up that the girl was pregnant. The RN on duty asked me to be a witness while she explained to the mom about her daughter being pregnant. The mom got this bewildered look on her face and said she couldn't understand how that could be possible because the girl had not been with any boys...(oh, really?? hmmm...guess we should all prepare for the second coming then, right?)

I think many pregnancies are because of immaculate conception now a days. It is a recuurent theme in the ER.

I love it when we have an admit to our floor because of abdominal pain. Of course who wouldn't have a belly ache if they haven't pooped in weeks and the x-ray shows a large amount of stool throughout the colon! Duhh So what do we do give them IV narcs for the next 3 days then the doc gets on the ball and we spend the next 5 days giving more IV narcs and slowly work at getting this person to poop. Once they do then it is LOOK OUT!
