New Grad

Posted about 5 years ago Hi... I'm looking for a bit of advice. I am a new graduate, I completed an ADN program in Dec 07 and am now looking for a job (in a hospital) and am finding it very challenging. From talking to several nursing recruiters it appears that every new grad position that opens, there are at least 100 applicants for. The nurse recruiter said there are so many nursing programs in the area and the hospitals can only support so many new graduates. What are the tricks of the trade to get in the door. Thanks in advance for any advice. Domenica |

| Posted about 5 years ago Domenica You may have to try non-traditional methods or go into a different pactice area. Although nursing homes aren't for the faint of heart, they may be a good place to start. Check to see if there are any home health agencies in your area that are willing to train a new grad. Doctor's offices and children's hospitals also offer great opportunities for employment. If there is a Dept. of Veteran's Affairs (VA) Hospital or military base close to you, they also offer great opportunities. Good luck with your search, and don't give up. Something is out there for you! |
