My name is Kimberly. I have criminal charge from 11 years ago that just recently stopped me from working in a nursing home where I had plans of becoming a CNA. It was explained to me that I could try to have it expunged from my record, but it turns out that because of a speeding ticket this year that i can not. The nursing field is where I feel I need to be, yet because of a mistake in the past I feel that I will never get a chance. Should I just give up or pursue other avenues?

depends on the charge and the Company you are trying to work for. If it's a felony you may have a problem in this day and age.
Never give up, there is a way around everything if your heart is in the right place.

when your friend HAS a stroke, we all feel worse.

Thanks for the encouragement. It was a felony charge but amended to a misdemeanor. I won't give up yet.
