I am very interested in beginning a career in nursing, although I don't feel that becoming a CNA is right for me personally. I have been researching other positions, and I am very interested in the LPN title. Do I have to be certified as a CNA before becoming an LPN?? Does anyone have any advice or reccomendations? If possible, I would love to jump straight into schooling and training for LPN. I just need some feedback here. Thanks a bunch =)

Think it depends on your nursing board requirements, here in the bluegrass state we have to take a MNA(medicaid nursing asst.) course first which is your CNA....before you are elegible to go on to LPN -or- RN..check with them..or any of your local schools, they will be happy to talk to you..

It depends on what LPN program you go to and what the state requires. They just changed the program at my school so before I can even get into the nursing program I have to complete the CNA portion first and then become certified.
