How long is a CPR certification good for? I don't want to do it too soon if I will just have to re-do the certification prior to entering the nursing program at my school. There is a 2 yr waiting list for the program, and you're not garunteed to be accepted then either.

Ok thanks so much StarlightRN that's kind of what I figured, so I'm really glad I made the decision to wait and take CPR later! I'll just have to renew my certification again, before I can be accepted into the program. I am glad I was able to ask before I started!

if you already have a cpr cert, keep it up, it's a whole lot faster and easier to be recertified every two years than it is to take the entire cpr course over again. cheaper too

Yeah I would imagine, but since I don't have my certification yet, I will wait a bit longer before I get it. I would definitely like to take it closer to my entrance to the nursing program, so that I don't have to spend any more money on recertification! But thanks so much dmazment, it's helpful to know that it is cheaper to recertify.

That's a good thing to remember thanks a lot! I probably would have forgotten, but I was thinking about doing it through the college. I am not sure if I will do it there though do to the fact, it happens to be a lot more expensive that way!

American Red Cross is only 1 year and the American Heart association is 2. I know because last year I went with the red cross and it expires the day before my last day of clinicals so Last month I recert with the Heart association. Live and learn.

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.
