Weird question...

Posted about 5 years ago I am going to start my nursing classes in August. I have already had a question (asked by a close individual) if I would do a prostate exam on him when I got out. I told him that only a Dr. could really do that because he would have to be the one to "assess it". I want to know what the weirdest question or request someone has asked you to do as a nurse? |

| Posted about 5 years ago I had a patient bring in a small box, looked almost like a jewelry box for a ring, and asked me to take a look and tell him what I thought. I opened it up and found a stool sample. I looked at him, down at the sample and said, "It's a bit early for a proposal. How about dinner and a movie first?" I handed him back the box and told him to dispose of it. On another thought: Have any of you ever wondered why people think it's important to bring the vomit they recently regurgitated with them to the hospital? |

Do you think that maybe some of these people think there's a forensic lab in the back of the ED, and we can discover exactly what's ailing them by examining their stomach contents? It wouldn't surprise me...too many people thinking that CSI mirrors real life. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!! |

| Posted about 5 years ago Not only that, but EMS seems to encourage this practice. My thoughts are, if you're feeling sick to your stomach, and that's why you're being seen, chances are we'll get another sample shortly. |
