Hi, I actually want to know what everyone thinks about the associates degree versus the bachelors. Would it be best to go all the way with the 4 years or should I do associates and after awhile go ahead with my bachelors? Thanks!

Well I am going this route. I already have a bachelors degree and wanted to hurry up and finish so I could work. I do plan on taking my bachelors classes right after I finish and pass boards.

Zonnie, I already have a bachelor's degre in another field as well. I am finishing the Associates degree in nursing in less than two weeks. How many classes are you required to take to get your BSN? Just curious.

Gonza, I heard an assistant nursing director recommend to somebody the other day that they should just go ahead and get their ADN so that they could start working. But, that was just her opinion and I suspect that another assistant nursing director would take the other stance. lol

If you can go all the way (ADN then BSN) then I say go for it. I have my Bachelor's in another field but I wish I had begun with the nursing degree and then ended with it. Now I have a dilemma of paying back a $30K student loan for my B.S.B.A. degree. Money is an issue to me so that's why I am going for my ADN first and then I will go from there. There is, however, a program at my Community College where ADN students can bridge to the BSN Program through the traditional way (Cal State Univ Sacramento) but only 10 students are accepted in each cohort. Students are able to comlete the BS Degree in one additional semester. Otherwise, when students return to complete the BS Degree as a returning RN, they take a minimum of 3 additional semesters (but usually 4). Good luck in whatever you decide is best for you.
