Posted about 5 years ago Okay so a FT job consists of working 40 hours per week. Is a 40-hr work week always the shift for the FT nurse? If more than 40 hours is worked, is this where the burn-out comes from? |

| Posted about 5 years ago It depends on the facility you're working in. Most facilities base full time increments on two weeks, either 80 or 72 hours. Depending on what area you work in, there is also this nagging thing called Call......California is the only state I know of where you are compensated fairly for being on call. Half your hourly rate. Most states, call is less than minimum wage to give up your free time to be available to come in and work. So to answer your question, full time is considered 72-80hrs per pay period. Anything over this is overtime |

| Posted about 5 years ago I live in NC and only work 32 hours a week. It is considered full-time. We also have a weekend shift that only works 12 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday. They actually only work 24 hours and get paid 32 hours, and they are also considered full-time. So like dmazment says, it depends on the facility. |
