| Posted about 5 years ago I would bet that your kids and grandkids are proud of you. You were in med school, that is something to be proud of. Yeah, LTC can get old. It is not easy work for the young kids, I would not want to go back to LTC. Have you started looking into schools yet? I guess you should start with where you ant to live, then look at schools. You can find work that pays far more than CNA work if you need to work while you are in school |

| Posted about 5 years ago Hi there.... I am fairly new to this site as well...I am also going back to school after years of doing other things....radio, coaching, CNA, EMS, PTA....and now at 38 going for my RN. Hey, don't look at your life as negative. You should be proud of all you have done. That is what makes us who we are. Yes, CNA work is tough and underpaid. I say go for your RN. Just start slow. Step by step. Like CD says....look at schools. I actually went to the campus here and spoke with the Nursing director. She can guide you. Just take a few classes, so you won't feel overwhelmed and can make good grades. It doesn't matter if you take 3 classes or 5 classes.....do it at your own pace. You will get there. I am rooting for you! Keep me updated.....I would love for you to be my friends....I am under MamaDawn as you can see A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted about 5 years ago This is really nice to know some people believe in you, you sound more supportive than my family! Since I'm not working my husband is always asking when are you going back to work, school is too long we need work! It really is overwhelming! It seems so long out of work now, sometimes I feel really out of touch with reality, I know I am good at what I use to do, it just doesn't work for me here, and it isn't ease to leave state like I would like to, uh! maybe I should be talking to a shrink, you guys are great people, I guess we are one of a kind? renee |

| Posted about 5 years ago CNAs can do more than work in LTC you just have to look around. Assisted living might be the answer The work is not as hard but assistance is still needed and you get the interaction with patients. There's also home care with one patient at a time. CNAs are much needed there. Alot of facilities here are going with Med Techs instead of LPNs. I'm not sure how long the course is but it's not long, a month maybe. I've worked in LTC and it's hard work. You need to find something to make you feel better about yourself. I'm sure your family is proud of you no matter what you do. Keep looking, keep your eyes open to all possibilities. You could also go to school to be a MA. I believe that course is maybe a year. And then work in a doctor's office. You already have the experience. Remember there is more than one way to skin a cat! |
