hi my name is mary and i am currently in nursing school. I have 5 months to go and i am 40 years old. I chose to go to a school that offered nursing classes in an accelerated program that  took only 15 months going through a regular college in chicago would have taken me almost 3 years because of all the pre-recs you have to take then go on a waiting list to begin actually taking nursing courses just to still possibly be bumped down if someone comes in with their pre-recs finished. this school i am in offers only what you need to know and learn to become a nurse the hardest thing being in this particular program i have only 30 days per class to learn and past each class test just to go to the next one. regular college per class is 14 weeks thats why it takes so long also i paid a lot more more money to go this route. So i say if you can find a school that offers nursing school program without all the unneccesary classes and you feel you can keep up plus afford the rest of tuition that financial aide don't cover then pick a college like that also called trades school or technical or health care schools. the most important call your state accreditdation information on schools you are interested in to make sure they are accredited and recognized by your state good luck k.i.t
