Does anyone else think it is a complete waste, when someone has drugs that are d/ced and they just get wasted, because medicare won't let the pharmacy reuse the meds?  (Reimbursement thing)  I find it such a shame, that there are people out there, that can't afford meds, health clinics that have to scrape the barrel to help the people in need, when there is such a huge amount of meds being wasted?  We have started sending meds home with residents that are being discharged, because thier Med D won't allow them to have scripts filled when they get home because they were already filled for thier stay here.  I think that is so wrong!  So our facility allows them to take thier meds home with signing a release so that way we know they have thier meds.  It just seems like politics are controlling everything with out an ounce of common sense.  What do other facilities do?

Not only do I find this wasteful, I think it is sinful. There are so many in need and we are throwing away medicines. Makes no sense to me ant all. No one can ever justify this to me.

I use to have to go to the pharmacy and help destroy all the Dc'd meds and that is what I said exactly.  It didn't make sense the thousands of $$$$s down the drain and most of it is our money. You'd think they could go to clinics, other countries that need help. Some of the meds were ordered and Dc'd within minutes but since they were already out of the pharmacy they couldn't take them back. This stuff doesn't make sense

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.
