| Posted about 1 year ago hi poh!you applied for nclex california and you are graduated nursing last year?and you went here in cali right and just got the response of BON?because we almost have the same issue you,me and my other friend.okey first is my friend is a US citizen too we are graduates of batch 2008.and i am immigrant.we did not take our local license in philippines we went here april 1008 but differnt days.so we applied our nclex in here she got a letter from BON because she forgot to send a letter for not having a license in phil.so she send a letter 1wk waiting she got her ATT
me too!i forgot my letter to send and i send my letter of explanation 2wks waiting and got it and i am eligible.
that's why its impossible that they will not gonna allow you take without license in phil as long as you are immigrant and US citizen maybe the reason is you are lack of documents like if you put on your letter is because you are US citizen put any proof of documents like birth certificate, passprt and visa.because thats what i did.thnks! angela |

| Posted about 1 year ago Im a green card holder, recently in the Phil. taking up nursing and will finish this April of 2009. My plan is to immediately come back to US without taking the local boards and take the NCLEX in the US through California although I reside in Texas and just get reciprocity. How many months of waiting from the time one applies for the CaBON till one gets the ATT. Or if I take the NCLEX in the Phil., anyone knows what the requirements are? I appreciate your time and response. Thanks a lot. |

We have the same situation. I just called the Ca BORN earlier to follow-up my application. It takes 6 months to process for international grads such as ourselves. That includes the ATT. The requirements can be seen in this website... www.rn.ca.gov Good luck to you! |

| Posted about 1 year ago yah its possible to take your nclex as long as your a greencard holder if your going to make letter tell them your reason you can send your marriage certi thats the one reason why you came in here and 2nd is you wanna continue your nursing here.basta send them complete req as you can.there are rumors that BON is not allowing to take nclex if you do not have local board, but own experience they grant me to take board and hey i dont have either nclex.so you have a big chance to take your board just make sure complete and have a a proof if you can angela |

Hi Vian! I'm having the same situation as you are. I'm still waiting for my eligibility as of the moment. I called the Ca BON and they ask for for your license in the RP. But you can give a written report that you don't have your license if you really need to migrate to the U.S. and you weren't able to take the board exam. They accept that as well. |

I'm gonna take my NCLEX here in California... They don't ask for a local license... You just have to give a written report on why you don't have a license and a copy of your diploma. You're welcome! |

| Posted 10 months ago Hi thanks for clearing some things out. I'm less confused now, but i got another question. So i sent my letter explaining that I'm a U.S citizen and wanted to to persue my nursing career in CA, but did'nt attach any documents of proof that I'm a U.S citizen, should i send another one, and do i send that with my diploma? |

When I called the Ca BON, they told me that you don't have to send documents attached to your written report as proof. But I just gave a copy of my documents just in case when I applied. You should send a copy of your diploma together with your application if you don't have a license in the country where you graduated in. |

| Posted 10 months ago hello.. i nid some help.. i'm a greencard holder..graduated last october 2008..and 3 days more to go im going back there in CA, still confuse with so many things..my question is what would my frst move wen i get there in CA? how long does it takes for CA BON to evaluate or process the eligibility to take the NCLEX>??based on my status, as an immigrant.. do i really nid to take the local board as a requirement for the applcation of NCLEX.. or ican take the NCLE without my local license *if you dont mind.. what would be the best resaon if just in case they ask me why do i have to take the NCLEX here..coz it says in some of the comments in this blog..that all u nid is to get ur requirements from the school u graduated such as transcript and diploma .certifying that u are a nursing graduate in that school.. *one more thing guys, what review center here in CA ur best recommneded..tnx alot.. |

| Posted 10 months ago hi there, i just got here in the US last december 30, and i just found out the other day about this issue regarding BON being strict when it comes to applying for NCLEX if one has graduated from a nursing school abroad. i graduated in the Philippines too and i'm about to apply for NCLEX. so does this mean that i have go back to the philippines, start completing my cases (new ones) and take the local board exam in there? i was at least glad to have read this topic so that i will know more information about what's teh latest in the policy of BON. |

Your move should be to prepare your application and make sure that everything is complete. That your school has the necessary forms to fill up and be sent to the CA BON. I am an immigrant as well... My application here took about 3 months or less to be evaluated. I didn't take the local board in the Philippines. What i did instead is to send a written report that I didn't have my license and my reason. I sent a copy of my re-entry and passport as proof. It would depend on your reason I guess. Make sure it's good and be honest. Oh yeah! Since you don't have a license, you have to send a copy of your diploma together with your application. My review center was kaplan... It's recommended by most people. |

I heard that the CA BON has become more strict. But when I applied just recently, they had sent me my eligibuility despite the fact that I didn't have my license yet in the Philippines as well. The best thing you could do is to call the BON and check if they have a new policy and what you could do in your situation. Maybe you don't have to take the local board like me, so it's better to ask them. |
