hi everyone1

currently iam here in california .. i just graduated my nursing last april 2009 and then i am applying for nclex-rn in california. they ask me for an explanation letter why i do not have a license so i reply to their request. i did not take the board exam coz my re entry permit will be expire soon. and now they asking me another documents which i cant understand why are they asking me this documents which arent in their requirments..

like:

1.class schedule for the nursing program completed at my school ( which i cant remember )

2. clinical rotation schedule, instructor signiture and location of clinical training completed

3. transcript sent directly to the board of registered nursing for all education/ training completed prior to enrolling in your nursing program( like what is this? after highschool i directly enroll in nursing course)

can someone help me what to do about this problem.. what should i do ...

why is it right now they are asking so many requirements and documentations. that for me its irelevant coz my school already send the requirements they needed in my school and now they' re asking this..

thanks...

This seems to be a common problem with foreign students.

You don't say where you went to nursing school. I gather you are not a US citizen. From the response of the board I also gather you did not go to nursing school in the US.

If you went to nursing school outside the US, you must provide proof of licensure where ever it is you are from before you can sit the NCLEX in the US. You must also meet other requirements to show that your education is acceptable.

If you went to nursing school in the US, your school still has to be acceptable to California.

Your school must be approved by the Board in order for you to sit the NCLEX. If you went to nursing school in your home country, then it is probably not an approved school and they will not let you sit boards. If you did your program online in a "US based" program, but a foreign school actually issues the degree, then that school is not eligible for you to sit boards in California.

You say you can't remember things like your class schedule: if you do not provide this information they WILL NOT let you sit boards! You need to go to your school and get this information. The BRON will NOT make an exception!

All of this information is available with the application for licensure by examination.

I don't quite understand why you didn't take your board exam when you graduated in April. What do you mean by that?

I might be able to explain better if you could answer some questions:

Where did you go to school?
What country are you from?
Have you passed the TOEFL?

Actually I am a US Citizen and they asked me for the same exact thing you mentioned on here.. I did however go to school in the Philippines, but everything that they are asking for you can actually get from your school, the class schedule and clinical rotation which is your RLE that was signed. So just gather everything they asked for and turn it in. That's what I did and I got my approval as soon as I gave them everything they asked for.

hey guys. good news. i graduated nursing from the philippines last march 2008. and i flew back in CA and i dint take the NLE in the PI. and after getting my diploma. i sent my application sa CAbon and a letter of explanation. they sent back a letter saying that.. i just need to send a copy of my passport. and the papers that would be coming from the school. then i could take my nclex na daw.

fyi. im a green card holder, green passport pa din ako. kaya for those fil immigrants dont worry. just tell them a credible reason and make it reasonable. ndi lang dpat kasi na u dont intend to practice.

Hi, I just graduated in the Philippines last march of this year (2009) and moved back here in the US. I am a green card holder and I applied for the NLCEX, I received a mail from the CBON saying that i have to submit a copy of my license in the philippines but i don't have a local license since I din't took the local board exam.  I am worried if they don't give me an eligibility to take the exam and have to passed the local board exam first, I don't wanna go back there again and take the local board. Can you help me what did you tell them on your letter na hindi mo na kailangan ang local board? I am so stress na...hope you can help me.

hello i dont know why your having problems in processing your nclex req... did you correctly follow the instructions? so,first, are you the one who mailed those reqs?like example the transcripts,RLE etc.because supposed to be school is responsible for that matter they are the one who will send those or have some printed name of your school at the envelop, and you can send your own papers here like your own application the one with the ssn number etc..which you are paying 75....because they may invalidate your application if you sended all at once...

Mine i just graduated last 2008 and they did not ask for my license in Phil im an Permanent Residence here...you should'nt have a problem if you did it right feel free to msg me or at my facebook angela101287@gmail.com

same problems tayong lahat. they asked for my class records as well. the reason why they are asking for these extra info that arent listed on their site is that a lot of people have been found to e submitting bogus information.. so they want additional proof that you really attended all these clases. unfortunately sa iba, they dont keep all these records, baka tinapon na nila or what..

hey i'm currently a 4th yr nusing student in the philippines, but i am a US citizen under a student visa. i'm just wondering about the whole requirements needed to take the NLCEX, such as the PRC forms and cases that is needed for the local board exams- does nlcex require you to also submit a list of major, minor, devilery, cord dressing cases? it used to be a requirement in school to complete the list of cases to be able to graduate but they  took that out, you only need to complete it before taking the local exams, cause of the lack of exposure to these cases.

i don't plan on taking the board but going staight to nlcex, so other informations were helpful with the whole "reason" you don't have a license and all.

pls rply! thank you!

@evolinmhe...I was in the same situation..I 'm a US citizen who graduated last March 2009..I went home (California) the following month Aprill 2009..I'm taking my NCLEX this Dec 21, 2009..The reason why it took so long was because of the flood..Anyway past is past...Here's what you do... *NOTE/ each individual is different and its a case by case basis, some have more requirements than others) I"m giving my advice just solely based on my experiance..Some one elses might be different.

1) The cases (cord dressing, major , minor, etc...) is called the RLE...This will be sent to the board of nursing from your school..you will not send this..

2)In case the board otf nursing asks, have the school also send them your class schedules, , description and log books that you signed in during duty..Or make a copy of it..Give this to your school and have the school send it..Not you..Everything has to some from the school except your application and Letter of explanation..

3) Transcripts ..If you have transcripts from other schools, have the other schools you attended send that as well..What ever prior colleges you attended...  It has to come from them ,not you.

4)Letter of explanation why you don't have a local license..Remeber the excuse  " I don't have a local license , because I don't intend to practice in PI is not a valide excuse anymore." Yes its overly used and I did speak to an evaluator..My reason was my uncle passsed away april after I graduated. He really did..I provided the BON documentations of the funeral arrangments because my uncle was close to us .. The evaluator at Sacramento told me that US citizens can sit in for the exam..Therefore your letter of explanation should  be a  Valid reason not an excuse to practice in the US because thats by choice..Remember Valid reason w documentation if you can..Please note that there are thousands of Filipino graduates every year like you and I. They use the same excuse to skip the local boards. Believe me, the BON knows there are 10,000 of the same excuses..NO excuses, by choice !! Valid Reason ...

5) FBI and fees..you can just go to your local sherrifs dept and have em scan your finger prints and have them send it to BON. Copy of your passport., this you can send and include it w your application..

*If your school took away those requirements regarding the RLE (Cases ) , you might have a problem..You need those cases whether your taking local or not !! I would work on those cases if your school took themout..Or you might be screwed in the end!! Believe me I'd hate to see that happen w all your hard work..Besides , exposure is good..I had fun at the delivery room, and operating rooms..You need that exposure..If not your school might have serious issues..Believe me..Fix the problem while you're in PI, not when you're here in the US..Time wasted is money spent...Do as much as you can...Force the school to give you those cases if you have to, you need them !! Glad I could help...God Bless Kababyan

 hi!

I applied for NCLEX-RN in CA. last month, Nov '09, a green card holder.  I am currently residing in the US & is not an RN holder in the Phils, and was able to explain my status to the BON. However, just this week, Dec 11, '09. I have received a response letter from CA BON requesting the following:

1. class schedule for the nursing program completed at my school (Phil based).

2. clinical rotation schedule &/ student logbook reflecting dates, Instructor's signature and location of the clinical training you completed.

3. copy of visa/ passport validating your entry & departure dates corresponding to the dates reflected on your educational transcripts.

>> I need your help. I even don't have an idea about this matter & where to get them.. Moreover, as of the 3rd req't given, I already submitted a copy of my visa & passport in which there is a posted date of my entry in the US.

Thank you so much!

Hi

#1 ) @ the registers office..They should have your class scheds, and copies of the cases that you finished (RLE). In regards to the Log book, you can make a copy at the hospital if they allow you , make sure you let the school know and then have the school send all these to the Board on Nursing .. Not you...

#2) I already answered  it...same as # 1.....Your done  !!!

after reading all these post, I wonder why a US citizen went to school in the Phils for the 4 years curriculum while you can have it here in the US for 18 months RN program.

Everyone has their own reasons.. For me it is because I already maxed out my student loan here in the US. I was accepted to attend St. Mary's College here in the US where I can finish my RN for just a year since I already have a Bachelors and a Masters in Business and Management. They said I can just take the actual clinical courses. However, it was $80,000 for that one year... and I don't want to owe anymore money. The other schools offered RN courses here for 18 mos. Yes... but.... there's a wait list or a lottery and who knows when you'll get pick in the lottery? sometimes you have to wait two years when you can actually already be studying and finishing up your courses. Which is the reason why I went to the Philippines. I personally didn't have to be there for 4 years. I stayed for 2 years since they credited some of my course from my previous degree, another difference is that the RN courses that you can take in the Philippines are BSN or a Bachelors Degree in Nursing.. while the RN courses where you can go here with a waitlist is an RN but Associates Degree. (mostly community colleges that offer RN program, but Associates Degree. They also have BSN here in the US in big Universities but again.. there's always that waitlist... My friend had to wait 2 years to start his program in UCSF. Also, I only paid $7,000 for the whole two years in the Philippines so go figure... I guess you get why someone would go to the Philippines right? I hope that helps and answered your question.

Hi!

I am also one of those that graduated BSN last April2008 but had to leave the Philippines without taking the local boards because my fiance visa was almost expired and we have to get married within 3 months. I'm a now a greencard holder. It gives me relief that we can still take the nclex as long as the explanation is strong enough to prove your intentions.. I submitted the Ca BON my marriage certificate and everything that needed to be submitted. Now I'm just waitingfor their reply..

Godbless everyone!:)

Anybody knows about the Philippine Paramedical School in Davao?  or has anyone here in the US working as an RN graduated from this school? i am just wondering because its 24 months RN program, mostly schools in the PI offered the 4 year BSN, I dont know if the US recognized these vocational schools in the Philippines and will let you take NCLEX.

I'm confused. when sending your application form, do you also send the papers that your school fills out or do they send it to the BON themselves? cuz i read that the school has to send it or they won't accept it. but then others say that send the WHOLE application by yourself to prevent any delay...

what's the proper/right way to do it?
