Posted almost 5 years ago Hello! I am now officially a second year nursing student! I finished my first year just weeks ago and am so thrilled to be moving right along. During my second semester I was pregnant and I delivered my second son between a peds test and a psych presentation. It was absolute chaos! So now I am enjoying some time off with the family. If there is anyone out there who would like to chat or needs any help with school advice I would be happy to help. I am on summer break now and am trying to keep my feet wet while out of school. I'm from Missouri and I am also interested in mental health nursing. Anyone out there in the same boat as me?!?! |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Hi Sara, Congratulations on your new baby ! I would like someone to talk to about becoming a nurse. I have always been the type of person that enjoys helping others. My nickname to some of my friends is " Cupid ". I just really like seeing others happy and I do what I can to help anyone in need. My husband gets frustrated with me sometimes because I put others first but that is also what he loves about me too...lol Anyways, I am 37 years old with two teenage girls that don't need momma to watch over them so closely anymore :( So, I've decided that since I can't seem to rid my need to take care and nurture ( not that I would want to ) that I should pass the love and care onto others by going to nursing school. When I was 9 years old my best friend died after going into a diabetc coma and at the same time found out that her older sister also had diabetes. Her sister and I became best friends after that and I soon started ( playing nurse ) pricking her finger to check sugar level and administering her insulin shots. I should have pursued my nursing dreams long before now but life got in the way I guess. Well, enough of my babbling.....lol Do you have any suggestions on how and where to start? Can someone go straight to an RN career or do you start somewhere else? This may sound strange considering a career in nursing but I don't want to be around all the blood and guts, is this possible? I would like to do something along the lines of physical therapy or working with autistic, handicapped or pediatric cancer patients.
Thanks for listening, Michelle |
