Hi all,

I currently work on a stepdown unit but my ultimate goal is to be in OB. I interviewed for a labor and delivery position and ended up on a waiting list. With no openings in the horizon. Well today I got a phone call from the postpartum unit manager and she asked if I would be interseted in interviewing for that unit and/or for the high risk unit. she also said that she knew I was on the waiting list for L&D  and thought that if I got a job on hers or the other unit it would get my foot in the door and make my chances for L&D better. I couldn't believe she said that, seems counter productive for her knowing I want another unit. But of course I said yes so I go tomorrow for an interview for these two units. Pray that the Lord will give me the words to say to make a good impression and get one of the jobs. I need to get out of my current job asap I can't take it anymore and its starting to depress me. Thanks ahead of time.

The interview went great. I go back next Friday to shadow. They want me to shadow then let them know if I still want to work there. I guess they have had people shadow and decide that it was not what they thought it would be and backed out. I told her that I was 99.9% sure I wnated to work there. It will be great to work with moms and babys and not older liver patients that poop every where and yell at you. Everyday this week I have been telling myself to think about Magee to help me get through each day here,

Congrats on becoming an OB nurse.. that is what I want to do (i'm currently getting ready to enter the nursing program).. how long did it take you to become one? How much experience?

So happy you have been blessed to go to L&D since that is where your heart is in nursing.
