I have 3 tats, but my "nursing" one is a cadeus with R on one side and N on the other. It's about 3 to 4 inches in height and abot 2 1/2 inches wide. It's on my left shoulder.

Yehaaaa! A subject near and dear to me..I have 11 tattoos.  Four of which are not possible to cover unless I wear long sleeves.  I have yet to have an employer ask me to cover the art that I proudly wear.  Tattoos are much more socially accepted than 20 years ago.  Go for the art for arts sake.  Check out several tattoo parlors and choose the one that is the cleanest with the best reputation.  These folks are truly artists, so if you can't find the tattoo that you want draw something up and take it with you.  Expect to pay.. And my tattoos are related to my career in motorsycling and had most of them before I became a Nurse.

Tats,  yes!!!  I have two and am willing to bet there will be more in my future....  Nursing tats seem to be the in thing.  I do not know when they started, but in Hawaii I do not recall people talking about them.  Here in CA I know of several people with them and or planning to get one.....   I thought it funny the other day I wore a shirt that was a little more revealing then my scrub is.  I happened to have to go into work and do some paperwork.  Well, while I was leaning against the counter my tat was revealed.... Lord you would think people thought I was a nun   LOL LOL LOL  I like my tats and wouldn't change a thing about them and tats all folks

The only tat I have is my eyeliner!  I wanted to get one on my arm when I was working but decided against it.  Now I'm kind of glad I didn't.  Kind of is the key words here!

I have 2 Tatts myself and a piercing in my tongue and I have never had anyone ever say anything negativeabout them at all. No one even realizes I have any of them even the piercing ( I don't play with it in my mouth or chew on it lol) so I say go ahead and get your tatt and be proud to be a nurse, cause it's not what you have on your skin that counts, it's what you have in your heart!!!!!

I don't think tat's carry the same 'taboo' as they did in the past and I enjoy the 7 that I have. After graduation I am getting a Rose the Revolter type but obviously a nurse on my back and I can't wait! Kind of my kudos to myself.....cause God knows, it's been a long road. For me, deciding to go into a profession such as nursing, that it is important for them to be hidden while at work because of the 'old schoolers' who still think that only men in the military should get them.

So...go for it! You only live once and just respond to people like I did my mother...

Mom "Why do you want so many tattoo's? Do you know what they are going to look like when you're 80?"

Me "What?!?!? Like I'd want anyone to see me naked at 80!" LOL
