Not true - yes, this may be a goal, but it is far from reality.  Getting 50 state boards of nursing to agree to this maor change - and to implement it within the next 5-7 years, is simply impossible.  Also, there are simply not enough doctorate programs around.  Most of those currently in existence are PhD programs - research programs - not practice doctorates.  Any of us who are currently advanced practice nurses, will undoubtedly be grandfathered in. 


Think about it - the ANA has been promoting the BSN as the entry level for professional nursing for a very long time, and that hasn't happened either for a host of reasons.
