Can someone explain the roles of an LPN ...

i'm a lpn student, this being my third month and i was wondering if anyone could explain the roles of an lpn in the o.r room, and surgical floor. i'm also looking for advice on which floor in the hospital would be best, "maternity, cardiovascular, acute, icu...ect" thanks abunch.

I suppose each geographic area could be different, but in our institution there are not positions for LPN's in any of these areas.  We have 2 LPN's in our department who have worked here since LPN utilization was more commonplace.  Once they're no longer in those positions, there will be no more.

There are no LPN's in the OR unless they have been trained as a surgical tech.  LPN's can not circulate, their scope of practice is not large enough and laws  nationwide require an RN only circulates.
