Hello.  My name is Brent.   I work as a CNA at a nursing home, and have worked as one since I was 16.

I'm attending college to receive my ADN.  I'm currently on the wait-list for the ADN program, but am moving closer and close every semester.

To tell you the truth, I just want to get out and get done with school and work.  I'm sure I'll say 30 years late "School was the best years of my life", but with all the stress to peform and study and do well, it kinda gets to me.

I've started and have taken the pre reqs for that program.  The "major" pre reqs I have finished are "Psychology, Anatomy/Physiology 1, and I am currently taking Microbiology this summer.  That way, if I pass micro, I'll be taking developmental psych and anat/phys 2 in the fall.

I had a little trouble with Anat/Phys 1, but still passed the class thankfully.  What are your thoughts on Microbiology?  Do you think it's easie or harder?  As detailed as anat/phys or not as complex?

So far, I've had about 2 weeks done and I think it's an interesting class....  Yet I haven't had an exam yet.

Thanks,

Brent.

Hi, may I ask why you thought it was easier?

For me.. It seems like the material is more basic.  Lots of vocabulary and identifications of bacteria under microscopes.

I'm sure you had both lecture AND lab exams.  How were those like if I may ask?

When I was in school I loved both the Micro and the A&P.  I took the labs at the same times as the classes.  I thought the A&P was interesting learned alot about the body and how it works and what goes wrong and right.  However it was in the Micro that added the missing pieces I needed to understand certain processes.  I loved looking at cells, germs, bacteria... you name it under the microscope.  I loved growing things in the auger.  I loved the challenges my teacher (Mr. Uchima) put us through.  We had to choose different mediums and grow cultures that we thought were the worst.....  LOL I choose money....  Imagine my surprise when the cultures from the drinking fountains and door knobs won..... YUCK>>>>  I now never drink from fountains and always use a dry paper towel to open the door when leaving the restroom.  Oh yah what about turning on and off the facet to wash hands LOL  Never think of the world in the same way........  Clue always use a dry paper towel because bacteria follows the water......   Like water follows salt......  get the connection?

I loved Micro.  I agree with nurseth38.  I the dirty test was diffently eye opening.  I also like the hand washing test.  We had to wash out hand and then we put this lotion on with that glowed orange under a black light.  Remember we just washed out hand. it was amazing to see the germs on your hands even after washing.  Then we had to wash our hands again using the 15 second rule.  The hands are not as bright but you could still see alittle under your nails and around the cuticles.

I thought micro was easier than anatomy.  But I am glad that I took anatomy before micro because micro made more since knowing the different body parts and functions.  Good luck with school.  I have quite of few male students that I go to school with.  Many are in school as a second career.
