I live in NY and am currently applying for nursing school. I have a non criminal offense and wanted to know how this affects me becoming a LPN. I know the school does not do background checks but the clinical sites do. They do background checks and/or fingerprints. I also wanted to know what is the difference between fingerprinting and background checks, i.e. what does one show that the other does not. Does only a criminal background affect getting licensed or do they look at non criminal offenses too. I need to know as much as possible. Thank you so much.
Sincerely, |

| Posted almost 5 years ago You need to check with you state nursing board. You can usually find it online. It will tell you what you state criteria is for your state. I am not sure if they are the same for every state. Fingerprinting is how they did my background checks. They did a state and FBI check on me. |
