I have been a nurse(LPN) for over twenty years.I have experieced a small( med-surg,ER,peds,EKG,OB) and large(psych,med-surg,floating,Cardio-vascular recovery room) hospital. LTC,home health and hospice, I have over 6 years experience as an occupational health nurse..In 99 I became a LMT which I have always considered an extension of my nursing..Since 05 I have not worked as a nurse because of taking care of my father..He passed away in 07 and I desperately need to get back  to Nursing.Because of that gap in my resume I am having a tough time...I have applied for fafsa and plan on finishing my RN and hope to teach holistic nursing..Right now that doesn't pay the bills... I am from Toledo,Ohio...Any suggestions would be greately appreciated....

In a cover letter, I would make it very clear, although you have not been nursing as a paying position, you have been using your nursing skills on a personal level by taking care of your father.  You can also contact home healthcare agencies, they very well may give you a position where you can actively begin nursing again
