Does anyone have any experience treating patients with ADHD? Which medications do you find to work the best? Personal and professional experiences are both welcome.

I have personal experience. I was diagnosed with it as a kid (in 1993) and took Metadate for it. Does anyone know of any new medications? I didn't react well to it and they ended up putting me on Ridalin. I'm interested to hear about what is new out there.

I have both personal and professional experience. There are more and more evidence based treatments available.
Check out Ed Hallowell in Boston and the multi clinic NIH studies in the past few years. There are new medications that are better tolerated and maintain medication levels throughout the day. A vital part of treatment is teaching the use of tools such as calendars, schedules, and rewarding ourselves. I am on Concerta and love it, but it is not about a particular medication as much as it is about finding tools that work for you (including meds if needed).

my grandson ( age 6 ) was just started on Concerta. It seems to have made a big difference. I'm not sure I like the "new" him. He is much more subdued ( use to talk up a storm ) . I will have to wait and see. His homework and grades have greatly improved tho.
