Posted almost 5 years ago Hi. As a future nurse, I am starting my first semester in August. As I am going through our checklist, we are going to be learning venipuncture the first semester. Any suggestions on how to stick? I have "hard to find veins". Any suggestions on how to work with a person that is hard to find a good vein on? |

| Posted almost 5 years ago vwoods, for me, this is a bit of an obtuse question to answer in a posting. Every attempt is a separate situation. These are truly best answered in the actual situation where you can be shown. However, if you come across something specific in clinicals & want to run it up the pole here, I'll be watching. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago One thing for sure is to remove the tourniqets off first befor removing the needle from the vein. I was so excited my first stick and hit gold, I pulled the needle out and blood spurted, SPURTED, across the room hit the ceiling. This is a lesson I have taken with me, LOL. Oh and the bruise that was left after, not pretty, that I am ashamed of. Not really the draw was on my ex-husband...he deserved it. I laugh thinking about it, we both did. Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time. |
