I stumbled onto nursing-link by accident, then I joined thinking that I would get to meet nurses from all over the country, find out different views, opinions and how nursing is doing in other parts of the world. I have talked to a few really cool nurses and had a word or two sent to me a few questions asked, the game is fun, but do any of us really connect with each other? So I ask you guys, why did YOU join and what do YOU want to give or get out of Nursing link and the contacts you make? I guess it feels a little shallow to me, but maybe I am not putting enough effort into it? Not sure, I am interested in your feedback...

Networking within the nursing profession

I came to nursing link in the beginning of this year and a nurse i am working with introduced me to this link. I absolutely love it and just recently I made contact with a nurse from Germany, who lives in the US now too and has to go through the same problems I have been going through to try to get our german nursing degree accepted here. I have been trying for a number of years to get this accomplshed and i went through LPN school, and bridged over to RN now. I am in contact with STate Board and am still trying to get acknowledged as an RN here . If I can help others in the same boat as me to get things done here, then my mission is accomplished. I love to help because I know how frustrating it has been for me all these years now. I have also met some wonderful nurses here and eventhough I have never met them personally I still feel bonded with them since we all come from the same profession- we dare to care as nurses, nurse assistants or whatver to make sick people more comfortable. Everybody in this field deserves a  reward.

I joined in February I think, and to be honest I have really only gotten to know one person. It may be b/c she is also from NC. We converse on a regular basis by e-mail.

I have been on this site for a year. I love it. i have gotten to know some great people since being here and have become good friends with several members. I find this site interesting, a stress reliever, informative, nuturing and fun (for the most part).  I too found this site by accident and I'm glad I did.

I initially joined nursing link last year, but never utilized it appropriately until recently.  I stumbled accross this community searching for nursing programs.  I wanted to talk to nurses about the profession and I also read some of the articles on here.  I look forward to getting to know more about the nurses that have invited me to keep in touch.

Is this thing on??

I joined nursinglink because my friend from school invited me.  I do like the site and think there is alot of supportive and intelligent people on it.  Of course the points system is from Mars.  I have enjoyed being a member and have told most of my classmates about it too.

I found nursing link on accident when looking for information on nursing. I made a profile and I have loved it. Nursing link has given me a lot of insight and helpful info for me to go about my nursing career right. I have not come into close contact with anyone, but I have talked to a few people but sometimes only once. I generally look to see if the are in a feild that I want to go into like being a neonatal nurse. Then I would love to get in contact with them, so I could ask questions and find out the info that I need to know. Anyways, I have tried other sites, but Nursing link is my favorite it is the only one that I use. Thank You, I dont know what I would do without it. Candice

I have always wanted to be a nurse and I am a CNA right now. I came across nursing link by accident and joined. I am currently taking classes on line to become an RN. I have not met anyone on this site yet but I think that I have found a new network of wonderful people.

I acutally found this site because my husband's ex-wife (mamadawn) sent me a link.  I use to belong to a nursing site kind of like this but it was connected to the nursing school I was trying to enter.  I have enjoyed it thus far.  I haven't been on in a while because I was finishing up school and my husband goes and comes alot because of the Navy, so what little time I have with him, I like to spend it with him.  It takes my mind off of being alone....ha ha

I can't remember how I came across this site. Maybe it was a pop up advertisement. I like the site so far and have enjoyed meeting some interesting people who share the same passion as I do..................HELPING OTHERS.

I got a friend of mine to joing the site as well.  She is already a RN. I'm looking forward to my graduation, God willing, in May of 2009. From there I want to pass the NCLEX and go on to get my BSN online.

I'm hoping to gain network friendships on the site and gain some information from other people who have more experience in the field then myself.

I think if you put some more effort into meeting new people you will, I have started a better effort on actually talking with others instead of just concentrating on racking up points and it has worked effort in success out, same way in life really.

I too stumbled onto this site, earlier this year. It has been a great opportunity for me to learn things and meet people. I have always said that if there is anything that I can do to help another, I will. I think that I joined in hopes of finding more information about nursing as well as giving and receiving advice.

My husband actually found this site. I really like MOST parts of it. Like a job, there are good parts and bad parts.

I have made a couple of friends, one of which I correspond with regularly. We are both in NC, so we have a lot in common.

A friend I have on My Space told me about this site, and I tired it and loved it. I'm actually on here more than her, but she is in school and is busy studying all the time. I have made a few friends too, but there is really only one that I correspond with regularly.

I haven't really gotten to know anyone here but that could probably be because my activity is sporadic at best xD

Still, I love the forums. They say that only other nurses will understand what the hell you go through as a fellow nurse - and it's true! If I mention anything about bowel movements or if I try to explain things about wound care, most people cringe and tell me to just stop talking about it. But when I talk to my nursing classmates, everyone gets so enthusiastic about it, sharing their own experiences, and to everyone, it's all normal everyday stuff, lol!

So it's the same idea here. I can vent, ask questions, get support etc. without being treated oddly. And when it comes time to make decisions about where I want to go in nursing, I can ask questions and seek advice =)

I know I am very opinionated, it has been helpful to read other views and believe it or not has altered my view on a few things, never too late right?!

I got an email one day a little over a year ago and clicked on it since I was gonna start nursing school that fall.  I found the articles interesting and decided to join.  I love this website!  I tried to get classmates to join but I don't think there were any takers.  Too bad for them I guess.

I found this site by accident too.   I was looking for scholarship info and came across this site.  I really like it.  I can give and get advice.  And I can connect with other students and know that I am not the only one going through the madness of nursing school and still trying to have a life outside of school.  I gave up that life but this site is a good break from studying 24/7.

I stumbled upon this nursinglink by surfing the web, I was looking for a firemens website, or paramedic link, and found this one. I fell in love with all the nurses immediately. I have alot of friends here, and few close ones. I was part of the old crew, we use to have some good discussion. Unfortunaterly, we loss some of the old crew, we still try to keep in touch with each other. I know alot of us are in school, have families, and are working as a nurse or nursing assistant. It is tough. I still value my opinions, and the opinions of others on this website.

I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

I joined to hopfully find other new nurses, maybe in my age group, who are going through the same things I am.  It has been a challenging adjustment for me...I take NCLEX tomorrow the 18th...really need to pass to keep my job (I am single and make a house payment)...so encouragement and studying tips (last minute tips at this point).

I have to say that since becoming a nurse (in the process) I have really found out how hard nurses work and how intelligent they need to be.
