Hi all,

Thinkin about getting another pup to add to your brood? Or perhaps you want your first doggy and have been shopping around for one. if so, I strongly suggest you adopt a pup from either a kennel or a rescue agency. So many healthy dogs that need homes are instead put to sleep because no one claims them.

I agree I have played taxie for German Shepherd rescue you can even adoupt directly through a rescue.   Most rescue have the dogs with foster families and know alot about the dog's personality.  Which is an advantage there are often puppies available.  Even if you want to compete in AKC or UKC dog sprorts you can get a form to register as a purbreed by send a head shot and a full body shot and certificate of spay.  Its a great way to give a dog a second chance and get a purbreed dog.  If this is your first time with any breed please do your self and the dog a favor read up on the breed no the charactoristics so you know there right for you.  So  many dogs end up in rescue because people dont understand what they have purchased and the cute little puppy turns into a unmanagable dog.  Another word to the wise take few obedience classes and puppy kindergarden.  Its a great way to start socialization skills and for your dog learn you are the leader not them.  So many people fail to do this and the dogs end up biting the neighbors lunge at other dogs and even snap at the onwers because they feel they are in charge and were never taught any better.  Believe me after a few classes and a little research before buying I guarentee you will have a best buddy.

My last dog was a shelter dog.  She was the sweetest dog, very well behaved and friendly, and obeidient.  Shelter dogs also tend to be healthier than dogs from pet stores.  Many "breeders" actually run puppy mills that churn out hundreds of overbred, sick dogs.  If you do buy from a breeder, make sure they are reputable.  Look at their kennel before you buy and check their credentials.
