Oh look, more rudeness and contempt!  RNdude has as much right as anyone to post opinions and does not deserve to be spoken to in the manner someone has.  He and I have had words, gotten to the point, resolved them and moved on.  I guess only "good people" should post in nursinglink, according to someone's ignorant comment.  dmazment

Just saw this one. Very good response damaze. Many of us had disagreed on topics. That does not make us bad or not fit  to post. cdnurse

I thought the whole point of the site was to learn about new things in the industry and get a chance to discuss problems and success with like minded others.  I did not know that this was something to build your self worth around.

You are 100 % correct: The game took over the Professional topics/discussions a long time ago. I have ALMOST given up that fight. When news articles or training articles are posted they seem to be just ignored. The news articles were at one time posted for information and discussion. Now, they are obliviously posted 5, 10 15 at a time with no one looking at them. Clearly, they are posted for the point value only. When training articles and news articles are posted, they are lost because the break time topics overshadow the professional topics and the topics ultimately are lost. Someone had place a request some time ago to the feedback site that the games and break time not show up on the most recent discussions but it was ignored. I had mentioned that it appears that nursinglink values goofiness over professional topics and got no response. The nonsense of the games and the lack of the discussions are only two of the reasons I was so frustrated with the site. I still think that there is some hope.

If you think the games took over the site, then make them go away and then lets see who still comes to the site daily to participate in discussions.

I know I'd be here.

break time topics were fun for awhile. The problem is that the break time topics  took over and every thing else got forgotten about. I did enjoy the fun things from time to time and they were a nice break. However, enough is enough. I have championed for getting off of the games and back to nursing topics for a long time. I have not had much luck so far.  CDNURSE

Why don't we throw out the point system and award "stars" for tenure?

1-12 months = 1 star

13-24 months = 2 stars...etc, something of that nature.

Eliminate points? Next thing you know you'll want to eliminate recipes, name games, what's in my pocket?- how can we live without all this mindless drivel...it would interfere with my online addiction! Not to mention eliminating the trash would actually let Nursing come to the forefront!    Down with points!!!!!!

I have RIGHTS!!!!

Court rules blogger can remain anonymous

By Eric Bangeman | Published: October 07, 2005 - 10:59AM CT

In a case journalists and bloggers have been watching closely, the Delaware Supreme Court yesterday overturned (PDF) a lower court's decision requiring an ISP to turn over the identity of an anonymous blogger. The suit was brought by Smyrna, DE town councilman Patrick Cahill and his wife Julia, who had been the target of heavy criticism from the Smyrna/Clayton Issues Blog, run by Independent Newspapers, Inc. Cahill was angered by a number of posts in the blog questioning his sexual proclivities, among other things.

Cahill's suit contended he had been defamed by the anonymous bloggers and requested that their identities be revealed so he could go after them for damages. The lower court granted his request, and Cahill presented Comcast with a court order requiring it to reveal the identity of the blogger. As required by Federal law, Comcast notified "John Doe No. 1," who appealed the lower court's decision.

The Delaware Supreme Court ruled that in such cases, the plaintiff would have to prove that there was a strong enough case that defamation had occurred (e.g., being able to defeat a motion for summary judgment) before one's anonymity could be compromised.

In the unanimous ruling, Chief Justice Myron Steele compared such political blogs to the time-honored practice of political pamphleteering, saying that bloggers' First Amendment right to political speech must be protected from intimidation.

As the United States Supreme Court recently noted, "anonymous pamphleteering is not a pernicious, fraudulent practice, but an honorable tradition of  advocacy and dissent." The United States Supreme Court continued, "[t]he right to remain anonymous may be abused when it shields fraudulent conduct. But political speech by its nature will sometimes have unpalatable consequences, and, in general, our society accords greater weight to the value of free speech than to the dangers of its misuse."

We are concerned that setting the standard too low will chill potential posters from exercising their First Amendment right to speak anonymously. The possibility of losing anonymity in a future lawsuit could intimidate anonymous posters into self-censoring their comments or simply not commenting at all.

This is an important decision, not just for individual bloggers, but also for news sites that operate primarily on the Internet. It raises the bar for unmasking anonymous critics and news writers, the presence of which are necessary to keep a democracy strong and vibrant. While this decision applies only to residents of Delaware, hopefully other courts both state and federal will follow in Delaware's footsteps should similar cases arise.

whoa! Hit a nerve? I guess it depends on how many games you play and how much is contirbutied to the real meat and potatoes. With all the screaming about wanting to be treated like a professional, we need to act more like pros. Yes, game playing does make you les serrious.

Yet, when we complain about that very topic on here, seems like now one likes the damn games. Wish they would fix it so that only the valid nursing topics show up. Sick of it and I am new on ere. Karen
