Has anyone noticed that fabric stores are starting to disappear. I was wondering where would we get our fabric when they are all gone. The only places that I know of  are some Wal-Marts, Hobby lobby, Joann's, and has anyone ever heard of Mary Jo's. I went there this past monday and oh my let me tell you it is amazing. They also are trying it all online. I just ordered some fabric from them the other day. So, where is it that u all get ur fabric?

I guess you sew. Not me. I barely can put a button back on. We have Joann's here in NY too. Do you have the Christmas Store by you? I always see fabric in there for the seasons.

Are you planning to make something?

I get alot of unique fabric and some favorite discontinued ones from Ebay. You would be surprised of how many craft stores are online.

Most Wal-Mart stores are discontinuing fabric entirely, as well as most of the craft section....bummer. I don't get it.  Anyway, I get most of my craft stuff from Ben Franklin and Jo-Ann's. The occasional fabric I buy comes either from Jo-Ann's or Hancock Fabrics (this is an expensive store unless you have a coupon, also the customer service is usually lousy. I go there as a last resort).

From my experience the cotton fabric quality (stitches per inch) is better if bought from an actual "quilt" store. Generally the thread count from Jo-Annes, Walmart, etc... is much less and therefore wears out or fades quicker than better quality fabric. Plus, you can get some real funky fabrics at a quilt shop.

I live in a small town in California and it seems that all of the small towns have a little quilt shop. They have an amazing collection of fabrics. Yes they are more expensive than walmart but the quality is so much greater. I have to say that the service of this kind of stores are really great. They provide information about quilting and also have classes to attend and learn more about the process. My shop has even a profesional quilting machine and a lady that helps you learn this type of quilting.

So, do not worring about disapearing fabric stores, they are still there in a different matter.
