Posted almost 5 years ago I really could use some suggestions.I work with a nurse who is per diem in our facility. The facility knows she's just a warm body to fill a shift. I've tried to teach her somethig she looks away. This is commom knowledge. She's worked here for quite some time. She's here all the time to fill in. Can anyone help. I'm festering. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Read the "Anger" topic. There are a lot of warm bodies out there taking up space. It's so frustrating, you have to wonder the type of care the patients is receiving. I have never figured out does the organization want us all to pitch in and do the warm bodies work so the patients get some type of care, or do they even give a hoot? Maybe they think they have done their job by filling to position, so we have nothing to complain about. I've worked at places where the other nurses have to deal with a crisis for the warm body while they are at starbucks for the um-teenth time, or they'll be right back, whatever the excuse. The warm body returns, the patient is gone, or has a major status change and nothing happens to them, no questions are asked. They come back tomorrow and continue on as nothing has happened, collect their check. I wonder what their conscience is like at the end of the day. I feel awful almost every single day, looking back on what I should have gotten done if only I had more time or more help. grrr |

| Posted about 4 years ago Next time you try to teach her and she looks away, stop what you are doing, and be upfront with her. I would say look I know you think your a just filling or a warm body here but we really need you on board here. If it keeps happening then I would talk to the Nurse Manager and be direct, the safety of the patients should come first and the Nurse Manager should know that. Good luck, it is very frustrating! |
